proceeds go to help Senior Citizens and those in Fuel Poverty or otherwise in
need of support, via East Grinstead Lions Club. £500 cash star prize, plus 24 other prizes
from donors around the town.

Q: Where
can I buy an advent calendar?
A: The calendars will be on sale at a number of events and locations in
East Grinstead, and online, from 19 October to 30 November 2023.
We will
also be selling our Charity Christmas Cards and Christmas Raffle tickets.
Q: What will the proceeds from the advent
calendar be used for?
A: All profits from the advent calendar will go into the charity
account of East Grinstead Lions Club to support local good causes, particularly
Senior Citizens and those in Fuel Poverty.
Q: How much will the advent calendar cost me?
A: The price for each calendar is £5. You can buy as many as you like –
but there are no discounts for multiple purchases (that’s a Lottery
regulation)
Q: Can I claim a refund or resell my calendar?
A: There are no refunds on calendars and they are not for resale
Q: How does the calendar work?
A: Each calendar has a unique ‘Lucky number’ on the bottom right of the
front cover. If the unique number on your calendar is selected in the
daily number draw you will win the prize under the window on the calendar for
that particular day. You will need to present your calendar to
claim your prize, so it is very important that you keep it. Each calendar also has a unique
security code, which we will use to confirm the validity of the calendar.
Q: How does the draw work?
A: Only the serial numbers for the calendars sold will be entered into the
draw. There will be a separate prize draw for each day from 1st to 25th December. Each
day has one or more prizes which are shown under the window for that day.
Q: How will you ensure that the draws are
fair?
A: The draws for each day are overseen by an independent adjudicator.
Q: Can a calendar win more than once?
A: No, once the unique serial number on a calendar has been drawn and won
a prize, it will be removed from subsequent draws
Q: How will I know if I have won?
A: Winning serial numbers and corresponding prizes for each day will be
published on the Lions website www.eastgrinsteadlions.org.uk/advent and on social media on each day from 1st to 25th December. If
you see that the unique serial number on your calendar matches a winning
number, then you have won that prize. It is the responsibility of the calendar
holder to check whether they have won a prize, and to claim it.
Q. Do I need to access the Lions website every day to see if my calendar
number has won?
A. That would be the fun way to
do it! However, details of prizes and their winning calendar numbers for
previous days will be kept on the Lions website. So do not worry if you miss a
day – you can go back to see if you won.
Q: What sort of prizes are available?
A: Prizes are physical Gifts, or Vouchers to be exchanged for goods or services,
or in some cases Cash prizes. All have
been donated by the generosity of our sponsors and donors.
Q: How do I collect my prize?
A: Contact us on the number shown by your prize above, or
email fundraising@eastgrinsteadlions.org.uk to claim your prize. We will arrange a date, time
and address for you to collect the prize from one of the Lions Club Members; or
if you have travel difficulties, we will at our discretion deliver the prize to
you at an agreed date, time and address. When we hand over the prize, we will
need to see the calendar and its serial number and the security code,
and will use these to confirm the validity of the claim before we hand over the
prize.
Q: Can I approach the prize donor to get my prize?
A: No, all prizes have been handed to the Lions Club to distribute.
Q: Can I swap my prize for something else or
for cash?
A: Prizes cannot be swapped for cash or a different prize.
Q: Can I give my prize to someone else?
A: If you win a prize you can, of course, gift it
to someone else.
Q: How long do I have to claim and pick up my
prize?
A: All prizes must be claimed by 29 February 2024 unless otherwise
indicated on the Club website. Some prizes may be limited by date (eg a restaurant offering a meal in
January 2024 only), so check the details on the prize, the Lions website, and
the donor’s website when collecting your prize. Any prizes not claimed by 29 February
2024 will be sold or raffled or auctioned, the proceeds will go to those in
need via the Lions Club.
Q: Do any of the prizes have conditions
attached?
A: Yes some of the prizes by their nature have
constraints: for instance, an alcohol prize can only be given to someone 18 or
over; some have time limits, etc. You
must check your prize for any conditions of use.
All the prizes have been donated and are offered in good faith: East
Grinstead Lions Club are not liable for any of the prizes. However, if for
some reason beyond reasonable control the published prize becomes unavailable
East Grinstead Lions Club will make all reasonable efforts to find a suitable
replacement – however, this will be at East Grinstead Lions’ absolute
discretion.

ticket (physical or eTicket) is drawn, we will contact you to let you know
