Fund Raising

Our Fund Raising is organised by club members. The money raised is to assist individuals and organisations that may seek our help; 95% of the money is spent on the local community and 5% on International Lion projects that need global assistance such as the recent tsunami and earthquakes.

The main fund raising events are:

Mayfair - held on May Day Bank Holiday Monday when the High Street is closed for the fair. This event also provides the opportunity for other local charities to have stalls and raise money.

Sponsored Swim - local businesses, sports clubs, schools, scouts and any group of six individuals provide teams to swim for 25 minutes in the Kings Centre, for which they obtain sponsors. The money raised is shared between the Lions and the teams.

Christmas Raffle - this is held each year. The money raised is used to hold a party for over 200 senior citizens from East Grinstead and the surrounding area.

Weekly Book Stall - every Saturday morning we sell paperback books in Queens Walk. There is also a permanent book display at Lingfield Railway Station. The money raised is used to operate a 6 berth caravan at Pevensey Bay.

Car Park - every Saturday from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm we operate a car park in Phoenix House, Cantelupe Road.

200 Club - a supporters club at a cost of £24 per year to raise money for our funds. There are four draws a year in March, June, September and December. All details of the rules are shown in the Constitution and a list of latest winners is available.

During the year many other events are held by the East Grinstead Lions to raise funds.
